In addition to cities such as Leicester, Nottingham and Peterborough (approx 45 minutes drive but allow extra time for parking) and the popular tourist destinations of Cambridge and Linclon (approx 60 minutes drive), other attractive destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon (approx 1 Hour 40 minutes drive) and Oxford (approx 2 Hours drive).
London is easily accessible by train on the east coast mainline from nearby Peterborough (approx 40 minutes drive) to Kings Cross station in the capital. A fast service journey on Virgin East Coasy is around 50 minutes & the slower cheaper Great Northern train service takes 1 Hour 16 minutes. Services are regular but avoid peak times on week days to avoid expensive fares!
Oakham has a train station and services usually run hourly, with trains travelling east bound to Stamford, Peterbough, Ely, Cambridge and beyond, and west bound to Melton Mowbray, Leicester and onwards to Birmingham New Street.
